Highgate to Spotlight and Show Gratitude to America's Healthcare Workers

“Highgate Heroes” series to profile the selfless healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle staying at hotels across New York

June 16, 2020

Highgate, a premier real estate investment and hospitality management company, today announced the launch of an initiative to honor and show gratitude to America’s healthcare workers serving on the fronts lines of the ongoing COVID-19 battle. Over the coming weeks, the “Highgate Heroes” series will feature the inspiring faces and stories of the brave and selfless healthcare professionals and those supporting them who are staying at Highgate owned or managed hotels in the hard-hit New York region.

“Healthcare workers across America continue to make incredible sacrifices to save lives and comfort those who need it most during this period of crisis,” said Steve Barick, Chief Operating Officer at Highgate. “We are honored to host many of these heroes at our hotels and want to do our part to recognize and raise awareness of their remarkable contributions. By sharing their stories, we hope to drive conversations about the true meaning of hospitality and inspire others in the process.”

The “Highgate Heroes” series seeks to provide the public with a glimpse into the lives of a small sampling of the thousands of people who have given up the comforts of home to help those suffering from COVID-19. Each profile will be shared on Highgate’s corporate website and social media accounts as well as the social media accounts of the hotel where each healthcare worker is staying. The healthcare workers who are featured will each receive a $1,000 gift card and a free five-night stay at any participating Highgate-managed hotel in the U.S., including popular destinations like Waikiki, Key West, Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

In an effort to help combat COVID-19, Highgate has made approximately 4,000 hotel rooms across New York, Boston San Francisco and Los Angeles available to healthcare professionals and patients at highly discounted rates. The “Highgate Heroes” series aligns with Highgate’s commitment to supporting and advancing socially responsible initiatives that have the potential to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Moreover, to support its current and furloughed associates who have been affected by the pandemic, Highgate established a relief fund that it seeded with a $500,000 contribution.
